This inner town property was purchased as a weekend retreat that was to allow the client to enjoy the open country spaces you get from the countryside but with all the benefits of the local shopping strip a short walk away.
The double block property boasted several magnificent trees that would have to be over 80 years old. However below them was a tired garden existing was a clutter of tin sheds, shrubs and overgrown garden beds that stole from their grandeur.
The immediate job was to remove the clutter and give the big trees the space they deserve. Then beneath their shady branches create a Tuscan style courtyard for outdoor dining and entertaining. A firepit adjoins the dining area with a circle of Adirondack chairs, festoon lights and up-lights sending a beam high into the tree canopies to make this area homely right into the night.
Finally the suggestion of neighbours and their rooflines were hidden with a simple planting of pleached Gingko trees flanks the outer garden. The only view now is out over the neighbouring parkland out onto the Cathedral Ranges.
